Traffic Stop Leads to Coffee County Man Arrest on Meth Charges

Anthony Charles McGuffin, 38, of Douglas

On the evening of April 21, 2025 38 year old Anthony Charles McGuffin was observed riding a bicycle against the flow of traffic which created a hazardous condition. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and made contact with McGuffin; during the stop, an investigation revealed a small container containing a white powdery substance and a number of pills. A field test was conducted and confirmed McGuffin was in possession of Methamphanamine. 

Following the discovery, McGuffin was taken into custody and transported to the county Pre-Trial Detention Center. He was charged with a violation of Georgia law 16-13-30, which addresses the purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution, or sale of controlled substances or marijuana.

The drug unit was alerted and the investigation is still ongoing. McGuffin remains in custody.
